About the event
Discover the art of bag-making in our Friday Night Bag-Making Series! Every Friday from 6-8 PM, you’ll create a different bag style, from a chic barrel bag to a practical tote or hobo bag with a matching cosmetic pouch. For $65 per session, we provide expert guidance; you just need to bring medium-to-heavy-weight fabric, fusible interfacing, matching thread, and specific supplies for each design. Mix and match fabrics for a unique look each week!
Weekly Projects:
Nov. 8 - Barrel Bag: 1 yard of fabric & lining, 14” zipper
Nov. 15 - Tote Bag: 1 yard of fabric & lining, 12” zipper
Nov. 22 - Hobo Bag + Cosmetic Bag: 1½ yards each for bags & linings, two 7” zippers

📅 Sample Weekend Schedule
Friday
The retreat kicks off with departure from SewFabulous Sewing School in the morning. Upon arrival at The Hobby House, attendees will drop off luggage, get settled, and begin their weekend with fabric shopping. That evening, we’ll gather for dinner and set up the sewing area for a relaxed night of sewing. You’ll work on your zippered pouch kit and have the option to enjoy free sewing time or participate in mini sessions like sewing hacks.
Saturday
We’ll start the day with a hearty breakfast followed by a full lineup of classes, including upcycled sewing projects, a Cricut 101 session, and fun techniques like making Pretty Panties or Pinterest-inspired slippers. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a group dinner followed by all-night sewing for those who want to keep the creativity flowing.
Sunday
Another full day begins with breakfast and continues with specialty classes like t-shirt designing using the heat press, quilting projects, and rope bowl crafts. Throughout the day, attendees can also participate in the mystery retreat scavenger hunt. In the evening, we’ll host Reveal Night—a special moment to show off your creations and connect with fellow sewists over dinner and free sewing.
Monday
We’ll wrap up with a final breakfast and one last morning class, then pack up and prepare for departure, refreshed, inspired, and filled with new ideas and friendships.
